2 Girls 1 Cup of Comedy is a comedy show on at 22.20 in Just the Tonic’s Just the Wee Room. Hosted by the lovable comedy duo Samantha Bains and Helen Sorren, the show brings four comedians to the stage for an hour of entertainment.
The show definitely isn’t a must see, but it’s a pretty good fun hour of comedy. Sam and Helen have great chemistry and tease the audience gently between acts – they’re not afraid to push their teasing beyond the first several rows. The comedians that are on change each night, which does mean the show can be a bit hit or miss.
The night started with some gentle immigration related comedy with Kae Kurd, moved onto some light fun from David Tsonos, then one-liners delivered by Adele Cliff and finally Archie Maddocks as our headliner. It was a pretty average night, nothing special but a good enough late night show. You get a lot of variety for £5 so if one act isn’t for you then it’ll move on fairly fast and Sam and Helen are endearing enough that you should want to stay, even just for them.
Shows such as 2 Girls 1 Cup of Comedy are great for finding out whose set you might actually want to watch for a full hour: they’re great publicity for the acts, and help you see what there work is like.
